Orange Crush: Southport's Gells Belts Joins Fight Against Allergies

SOUTHPORT, Conn. — Gells Belts, a company created by Southport couple Richard and Ashley Perkin, is all about giving back.

Southport-based Gells Belts created a new orange belt, with proceeds going to help kids with allergies.

Five percent of each belt purchase goes to charities, including the Arthritis National Research Foundation, National Canine Cancer Foundation, Breast Cancer Alliance, Thanks USA and Blue Ocean Society.

With May being Allergy Awareness Month, the Perkins have partnered with local Fairfield charity E.A.T. (End Allergies Together).

This time -- and for this month only -- 15 percent of the online purchase at www.gells.org will go to the nonprofit and its fight to end the allergy epidemic. (Use the code EAT.)

Since orange is the E.A.T. color, there is now a new orange belt, made especially in their honor.

"Approximately two kids in every classroom have a food allergy and this is such a big issue in our community and nationwide that, of course, we were thrilled to help," said Ashley.

The couple even used kids with food allergies as models in their recent photoshoot on Southport Beach. Go HERE for earlier story.
