FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Several Fairfield County residents are among the winners of IMAGES 2017, the ninth annual juried photography competition and show at the Fairfield Museum and History Center.

An exhibition of the winning photos and “The Photography of Joe Standart,” this year’s featured photographer, will open March 9 with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Beach Road museum. The event is free and open to the public.

Winners were chosen from more than 600 submitted entries from Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts, all of which will be shown on a slideshow during the opening event.

“It is one of the best organized and elegantly displayed photography shows in our area,” said Greenwich photographer Jean-Marc Bara, one of this year’s winners.

The competition is sponsored by Southport Galleries. Two grand prize winners will be selected and announced at the March 9 reception, which coincides with Fairfield County Giving Day.

This year’s contest featured online voting for a “viewer’s choice” prize, which went to Southport photographer Ellen Gould for a portrait of her husband entitled “So Done!”

Other Fairfield County winners are: Westport residents June Eichbaum, Danielle Goldstein, Simin Allison, Scott Glaser and Barbara Paul; Fairfield residents Katie Hinkle, Brandon Campbell, Ann Franzen, Kristie Kistner and Remi Smith; Stamford residents Kirsti Holtan and Sandy Gennrich; Monroe residents Elisa Deely and Harold Berenson; Norwalk residents Lewis Fink and Aleksander Rotner; David Pisciotta of Shelton; Susan Graham of Bridgeport; Mark Smith of Wilton; Julie O’Connor of Weston; Jeremy Frost of Southport; Jonathan Gordon of Bethel; Pamela Lindberg of Darien; Kasey Hilleary of Trumbull; Aniko Dowell of Stratford; and John Skarsgard of Easton.

The museum is open everyday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students and seniors. For more information, call 203-259-1598 or visit fairfieldhistory.org .
