Soloist Theresa Thomason will join a Feb. 26 performance to benefit Massaro Community Farm in Woodbridge, a non-profit organic farm.
Proceeds will fund the farm's Program Pavilion, safety paths, parking and food donations to the community. Last year the farm donated 9,000 pounds of produce to hunger relief agencies.
“Massaro Farm originally included half its acreage from Ansonia, so it’s particularly fitting to host it there," said the farm's Executive Director Caty Poole.
Calling it a "glorious opportunity," Theresa Thomason told Daily Voice she's performed with the Consort for over 20 years.
"He is a pioneer in the blending of animals and music and is committed to presenting his love for beautiful music to the world. That includes many unique performers that you may not commonly hear mainstream."
"The family at the Church of the Assumption are open and comfortable bringing innovative performances to the church. Their organizers are very creative and I've noticed that they always add a fun and artistic touch to each presentation," continued Thomason.
Thomason's background is steeped in music from "mom on down," she recounted.
"Our entire family sings and my father is a retired pastor. I chose a career in music in my late teens and never looked back. I enjoy all genre's but sing gospel, jazz, and classics most. I consider myself a contractor and welcome the challenge to embody new styles of music."
Performances have taken Thomason around the world with her own productions and other musicians.
Paul Winter has performed in 52 countries, from New York’s Carnegie Hall to the Miho Museum in Japan, pioneering the genre of “earth music.”
"I feel extremely grateful and blessed to be able to continue to do what I love. When you can pair it with a worthy cause it doesn't get any better than that," Thomason said of the upcoming show.
The event will include a reception with hors d'oeuvres, a silent auction and a champagne toast to the farm, marking its Centennial.
A meet and greet with the Grammy-winning musicians will follow the concert.
The reception is at 3 p.m. with the concert at 5 p.m. at the church, 61 N. Cliff St., Ansonia.
