There's No 'Rhyme Or Reason' In New Beer From Stamford's Half Full

STAMFORD, Conn. — Stamford's Half Full Brewery has made a name for itself by brewing up its signature beers. And its newest product will hit the bar on Wednesday — and this one is just a bit different.

Half Full Brewery will be releasing its latest product — Amelia in the new line dubbed Without Rhyme Or Reason — on Wednesday. It will be brewed just once, and cans will be available only at the brewery.

It's dubbed "Without Rhyme or Reason," and it's the inaugural offering in a limited edition series of new beers. It's what happens if a brewer creates a new flavor — you guessed it — without rhyme or reason.

"These beers don’t fit into any particular series, and they don’t adhere to any particular style, so as much as we possibly can, we’ll be releasing these beers under the moniker, 'Without Rhyme Or Reason'," Half Full said in a statement. "They will be brewed just once, and cans will only be available at the brewery."

The first up in the "Without Rhyme Or Reason" series is  “Amelia,” a double-dry-hopped IPA brewed with both raw and malted wheat, a healthy heaping of flaked oats, and a dose of lactose sugar for good measure.

Brewed with Simcoe lupulin powder and double-dry-hopped with Mosaic and Ekuanot, "WROR #1" is hoppy, hazy, and turbid.

Can't wait to try it? You'll want to belly up to the bar in the tasting room at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 22, at Half Full Brewery, located at 43 Homestead Ave., Stamford.

Here is the full release schedule for the WROR lineup:

  • WROR #1 “Amelia” – November – DDH IPA with Lactose Sugar & Lupulin Powder
  • WROR #2 “Ernest” – December – Barrel-Aged Belgian Amber
  • WROR #3 – February — Schwartzbeer with Rye & Brettanomyces
  • WROR #4 – April – DDH IPA with Lupulin Powder
  • WROR #5 – June – Saison with Sorachi Ace Hops, Lemongrass & Lemon Zest
  • WROR #6 – August – TBD
  • WROR #7 – October – TBD
  • WROR #8 — December – TBD

The Granola Bar Food Truck will be onsite on Wednesday, serving up food specialties paired with Half Full beers.

Half Full will be open Wednesday from noon to 9 p.m. As a bonus, it will also be open extended hours on Black Friday from noon to 9 p.m. Hours are noon to 9 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, with tours at 2 and 4 p.m. both days.

WROR "Amelia" will be released in cans at a cost of $16 per six-pack. There is a limit of one case per person.
