As part of National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day on Friday, Dec. 12, Save the Children wants kids, teachers, businesses and residents to don that knitted holiday-themed eyesore and donate $5 to the "Make the World Better With a Sweater" campaign.

Teachers and students can participate by either having an ugly sweater day or by having students make a sweater for their teacher to wear on Dec. 12.

Businesses can have employees donate $5 each in order to participate, or donate to have their boss don the ugly sweater.

Residents can participate at home as well by throwing an ugly sweater party or by joining the ugly sweater run that will be held in New York City on Dec. 20.
