Fairfield Concert Helps Make Wishes Come True

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Make a Wish Foundation helped Michael Dominick’s family when he was younger. Now the musician hopes to return the favor. Dominick will perform a concert at the Fairfield Theatre Company Tuesday to support the non-profit organization.

Dominick’s brother, Matthew, was diagnosed with a brain tumor at age 3. The Make a Wish Foundation approached the family and granted Matthew a wish — a trip for the whole family to Disney Land.

“It was an incredible experience for Matty, but also for the rest of us,” Michael said in a press release. “I don’t think my sister or I realized it at the time, but looking back, that trip is what kept our family together. It gave Matty something to look forward to while he was in the hospital, it gave my parents a much-needed break, and it gave us all a chance to be a normal, happy family.”

Matthew is now 23 and has been cancer-free for 12 years. And Michael, now a big-band singer, has been helping the Make A Wish Foundation for the last 10 years. He’s performed shows to benefit the organization in Philadelphia, Syracuse and Connecticut, raising $20,000 in the process. He is also currently the Connecticut chapter’s communication director.

His show, “As Long As I’m Singing,” comes to Fairfield on Tuesday, May 15, at 7:30 p.m. Dominick will perform songs from artists ranging from Frank Sinatra to Billy Joel at the Fairfield Theatre Company’s StageOne, at 70 Sanford St. in Fairfield. Tickets are $25 at the theatre’s website .
