FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield’s firefighters are working with their counterparts from Norwalk and Stratford on a fundraiser Thursday night for the Bridgeport Hospital Burn Center.
“We’re looking forward to joining our Stratford and Norwalk brothers and sisters in helping out the burn center with this great event,” said Fairfield Fire Fighters Association President Bob Smith in a press release.
The Connecticut Burn Center, located at Bridgeport Hospital, recently underwent a $1.5 million renovation. The state’s only specialized burn unit now has an overnight suite for patients’ families, larger patient room and a more advanced rehabilitation room.
“The recent renovations are very important to us, and the addition of a burn suite for families is a really big deal,” said Stratford Fire Fighters President Bill Hansen. “We hope to continue this annual fundraiser to support the burn center for many years to come.”
The three firefighters’ unions will co-host their Second Annual Wine and Beer Tasting Event from 6-10 p.m. Thursday at the Trumbull Marriott at 180 Hawley Lane. Tickets for the event are $25 and may be purchased at the door or obtained by emailing FFFCF@iaff.org or contacting the Fairfield Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation on Facebook .
