FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield History and Museum Center will be hosting a lunchtime lecture with aviation historian and researcher John Brown on Tuesday, Aug. 13, from noon to 1 p.m.
Brown will hold a 30-minute discussion on Gustave Whitehead, the Bridgeport resident who Brown says accomplished the first manned flight in that city in 1901, 28 months before the Wright brothers.
Learn about how his revelations recently led authoritative aviation publication "Jane’s All the World’s Aircraft" to endorse Whitehead as “first in flight” before the Wright Brothers.
Admission for the lecture is free, however, an RSVP is required. Call the museum's visitor service at 203-259-1598 to RSVP.
