Fairfield Physical Therapist Gets Patient to Dance

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — When he started working as a physical therapist, Noah Citsay had a patient who had been told by doctors that he might never walk again.

The Fairfield physical therapist had to address an even bigger concern, though. The patient, who had suffered injuries in a motorcycle accident, was afraid he would never again be able to participate in his favorite activity: ballroom dancing.

“He broke down in tears on his first day of therapy,” said Citsay, who works at Moore Physical Therapy and Fitness in Fairfield County. “He said, ‘I want to walk again, I want to dance again.’”

After two years of rehabilitation, the patient got his wish and was able to dance again. But the true reward for Citsay came later, when he and his wife ran into the patient at a charity dance event. “He said, ‘I have to dance with your wife,” Citsay said.

“It helped my growth as a physical therapist,” he said of the experience. “We wear our hearts on our sleeves, and we love to help people.”

He and his colleagues treat a variety of patients: younger athletes who have suffered exercise-induced injuries, elderly people having trouble with balance, and what he calls "weekend warriors," who overexert their bodies during their off-time.

He also takes his experience to Moore's Darien, Wilton and Stamford locations. Of his career, Citsay says, “We are in the business of establishing relationships, and we are physical therapists.”

When he isn’t working, the Fairfield resident enjoys taking walks with wife Megan, son Luke and Labrador retriever Reilly.
