Spray is trying to sell her self-published book "Growing Up with Scoliosis," which is based on her journey growing up with the progressive curvature in her spine. Spray is looking to fund the $3,372 goal by Dec. 29. As of Dec. 24, Spray had raised $3,690.

Spray single-handedly sold 4,000 copies of the book after publishing it in 2002 but is hoping to make the book available once again and restart her publishing company.

"I subsequently lost my grandmother (who I dedicated the book to), got married, had two children, got divorced and unfortunately, my book and my publishing company fell by the wayside," Spray said on the Kickstarter page.

"A good friend told me about Kickstarter and it has opened up a world of opportunity for me that I didn't think would be possible right now. I can revive my scoliosis book (with your help) and continue to help countless scoliosis patients around the world realize they are not alone by reading my story, my journey, my experiences, my emotions. I owe it to them and to myself."

Spray said she plans to purchase a new ISBN number, print the improved version of the book, advertise, research and release an audio version and e-book version of the book.

"This book is a labor of love," she said on the Kickstarter page. "It is my life's story and I’d love to continue to share it with young adults who are faced with the same challenges."
