FAIRFIELD, Conn. Susan Coyne is a Fairfield resident and former head of the North Stratfield School Parent-Teacher Association.
When Cristin McCarthy Vahey first moved into town, she didnt know anyone. It didnt take her long to establish a love of Fairfield, its people and the community. I met Cristin nine years ago when we were pregnant with our now 8-year-olds. The two of us struck up a conversation at nursery school, as neither one of us knew anyone. Am I glad we did. Cristin is one of my dearest friends and confidants. There are very few big decisions I will undertake without consulting Crsitin. She is level-headed, thoughtful, full of ideas and a fantastic listener. When I contemplated going back to work, it was Cristin I turned to for advice. When I was PTA president at North Stratfield School, it was Cristin I bounced ideas and issues off of.
I am truly in awe of Cristin and how she loves this town so much and does so much for it. She has dedicated countless hours on the Representative Town Meeting, the Stratfield PTA, The Board of Education Cultural Diversity Task Force and the Fairfield Cares Task Force on Alcohol and Heath and she still has time to be a lector at St. Pius. Who else would you rather have as selectman in our town? She would be a treasure and one you must join me in voting for on Nov. 8.
