Tuesday mornings light snow is now switching between rain and sleet, so anyone on Fairfields roads needs to watch out for slick spots. So Ayana and Ethan Klein decided that, if they were going to slide on ice, they might as well use the right equipment. The siblings joined a few other Fairfield families and headed to the Fairfield Ice Academy for some skating on their day off from school.
Sawyer Nessel, 7, and his uncle Paul had the same idea. Sawyer took a few spills on his brand-new skates (they were a Christmas present), but both he and Paul had a good afternoon on the ice.
He loves watching hockey, but hes only skated a couple of times, Paul says. Its a new facility here, so we thought wed check it out.
For the snow day, the Ice Academys two small rinks have extra free-skating hours, from 12:15 to 2:15 p.m. and from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. The cost is $9 per person ($5 for ice time, $4 for skate rentals).
