FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Fairfield's Mill River Wetland Committee (MRWC) is set to host its 47th annual meeting.
The Southington Rain Garden Program starts at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 6, at the Fairfield Main Library at 1080 Old Post Road in Fairfield. Evan Welsh is the Green Projects Associate for Save the Sound, an action arm of Connecticut Fund for the Environment. Welsh has a degree in Wildlife Ecology from the University of New Hampshire. He previously spent five years in southern California working in outdoor education and managing land for a nonprofit land conservancy.
Welsh's presentation will "bring to life MRWC’s grade 4 River-Lab Program focus on the groundwater system. He will give a PowerPoint overview of how the Southington Rain Garden Program was successfully launched and completed last summer. In the context of the Quinnipiac River Watershed Groundwater Restoration Project, he will also discuss other types of green infrastructure programs used in the restoration process," representatives said.
