The following responses are from Daily Voice readers and Community Advisors in honor of Father's Day.

  • "My dad, Seymour Ubell, who just published his memoir (go here to view), always told me: 'Relationships are the key to success in business.' His book is really interesting and funny!"

-- Jane Ubell-Meyer, Stamford

  • "My dad was a workaholic before there was a term for it, but he taught me balance in life and the importance of nurturing the parent-child relationship. He studied for and took on a second career as a teacher while still working as a pharmacist, yet always made time for me, especially after he and my mother divorced--there was dinner twice a week and we spent every Sunday togther. I learned so much from my dad, not by his 'telling'  me what to do, but by his showing me what to do."

-- Julie Davis Canter, Redding

  • "My father, Leonard Goldstein, liked to tell me, 'Treat meanest with kindness.'" It's something I remember to this day."

-- Nancy Wahler, Westport

  • "My father's [Edward Bamford] famous words: 'Sar, you need to get more rest.' To this day when he thinks I am doing too much he still reminds me [at 75-years-old] to get rest. I am so lucky to have him. The older I get, the more I realize he is right. (Just like he also always said: 'Someday you'll see I was right.')"

-- Sarah Bamford, Old Greenwich

  • "If you think you're gonna have fun, then you'll have fun."

 -- Bridget Stokes, Stamford
