FAIRFIELD, Conn. ? Hey, Fairfield, looking for fun activities to do with the kids this weekend? Here are some of the events planned in and around Fairfield over the next three days:
Friday, Feb. 17
4 to 5 p.m.: Start the weekend with some creative creations at the Fairfield Woods Branchs Lego in the Library" event. Kids in kindergarten through Grade 6 can use the librarys massive collection of the toy blocks to build whatever they want. Parents must stay with their kids throughout the program. The event take place each Friday afternoon in the childrens room of the library, located at 1147 Fairfield Woods Road.
6 p.m.: If you need a break before February vacation starts, you could start off the weekend with the Little Gyms Parents Survival Night. The gym will take in kids ages 3 to 12 for a night of games, music and activities, while you enjoy a night on the town. The event costs $30 for gym members and $35 for nonmembers. Saturday, Feb. 18
9:30 a.m.: While the winter weather keeps you inside, why not have your kids learn a classic game? Each Saturday morning, the Fairfield Woods Branch Library hosts a Chess Club for kids in grades 3 through 5. Free play starts at 9:30 a.m., but instructors will be on hand to teach newcomers starting at 10:30 a.m.
7 p.m. and 8 p.m.: The Fairfield Theatre Company always fills its weekend with concerts, but this Saturday the group has two shows across its venues. The Klein Auditorium on Fairfield Avenue in Bridgeport will host '80s rock band Foreigner at 8 p.m. And singer-songwriter Lucy Kaplansky will be on the main home stage on Sanford Street starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are available through the theatres website .
Sunday, Feb. 19
3 p.m.: If sports are more your thing, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers have a three-game homestand this weekend at the Webster Bank Arena. Along with games Saturday and Monday, the Tigers play Hershey on Sunday afternoon starting at 3. Tickets are available through the arenas box office .
