To the editor:
For the past four years, my daughter and I have been active volunteers for the Friends of the Library Twice REaD book sale. We feel that we are giving back to the community by providing the books to the community at a low cost.
We have gotten a tremendous amount of pleasure in seeing many members of the community browse through the books. They really appreciate what the book sale provides, and they look forward to coming in on a regular basis.
The Twice REaD book sale provides the community with a sense of sharing through donating books for others to enjoy as well. We do not want to see the budget cut impact this valuable service to the community.
My daughter and I were at the library one evening to organize the books for sale, and patrons were there browsing the books that were for sale. If the evening hours for the library are cut, we would be losing those who wish to participate (whether it is through donating or browsing/purchasing the books) in this wonderful service but are unable to during the day.
