Local Resident Knows Fairfield Like No Other

Sherri Steeneck is confident nobody knows the town of Fairfield as well as she does. That's because she not only grew up there, she has also spent the last several years as a nearby real estate agent and local government participant.

“I've spent most of my life in Fairfield and have seen the town change in many ways,” she said. “There’s much more happening now.”

For one, the town welcomed a third Metro-North train station this past December. During a brief stint as the town’s First Selectman last May, Steeneck was able to help iron out the details of the project when a financial deficit threatened to halt its completion.

“I’m happy I was able to complete the task and that I was able to live up to the requirements of the job,” she said.

Steeneck finished up her three-year tenure on the Town of Fairfield’s Board of Selectmen this past November. She previously served terms on the Zoning Board of Appeals as well as the Town Plan and Zoning Commission.

Steeneck has also been a real estate agent at Higgins Group for the past seven years. Since joining the company, she says she has learned a lot about Fairfield's housing price market, which includes "many economic brackets." However, where the climate has changed, so has the town's development. For example, she says that few of the shopping centers on Black Rock Turnpike existed when she was young. Fairfield Cinemas is a newer addition as well.

“We have public golf courses and three libraries in town," she said. "There are very few places that can rival Farifield in what it has to offer its residents.”
