During the “Give & Get” event, Brighton – the manufacturer – and Me boutique – located in the Brick Walk Promenade – will offer between $25-$50 toward a new Brighton handbag in exchange for every donation, according to a statement from the organizations.

Once the collection efforts end on Sunday, June 24, the donated bags will be given to women at the Center for Family Justice in Bridgeport.

Brighton owner Jerry Kohl, said the annual event is quite popular and does much good.

“The simple gift of a handbag can do so much to lift a woman’s spirits," Kohl said. "That handbag still may be as beautiful as the day (it was purchased) and may bring joy to another, less fortunate woman.”

According to organizers at Me boutique, handbags by any designer qualify for the program. Anyone who makes an additional purchase of $100-$200 from Me boutique will receive an additional $25 toward their new bag. Purchases of $201 or more made after donating a bag will be rewarded with a $50 bonus, according to organizers.
