Now you can make sure that they get recognized for their great work. The first selectmans office is once again accepting nominations for the Fairfielder of the Year and Town Employee of the Year awards.
The awards go out each year to people doing great things in the community. Last falls Fairfielder of the Year was Norma Peterson , one of the leaders of the Civilian Emergency Response Team and the Citizen Corps., which helps emergency responders during large-scale disasters. The Employee of the Year award went to Ed Boman from the Department of Public Works for his efforts to save taxpayer money through applications for state and federal grants.
Nominations are due in the first selectmans office by Oct. 24. An independent committee will choose three finalists for each award, and the Board of Selectmen will name the winners in November. Applications and criteria are available through the Town of Fairfields website .
