The new show, "The Scott Seat," features the brothers as they take questions from audience members and interact with them in a relaxed atmosphere. The show is expected to air this fall on HGTV.com, and not on the HGTV cable channel where their reality show runs.
Among their fans was Mary Kate Higham of Stamford who attended with her three young children. She said the brothers' show gives her ideas about what she can do with her home.
"I enjoy watching the show, and they come up with some really good ideas," she said. "It gets you thinking what you can do with your house and the potential."
The brothers took questions from the audience, many of which were written in advance. They sat on a sofa facing the crowd amid the bucolic atmosphere of the center and the farm.
It wasn't strictly question-and-answer as the brothers interacted with the audience, as they took part in a three-legged race with some youngsters, or performed some sleight of hand, from the brothers who are also adept at magic tricks.
Among those who completed questions were Barbara Gromotsky of Stratford and her sister Diane Crawford of Milford. The sisters are big fans, and Gromotsky said she has one area of her house she would love for them to tackle.
"I want them to do my kitchen," she said with a laugh, adding that Crawford has already done her kitchen.
Libby McCabe of Stamford got her real estate license a couple of years ago and she also is a big fan of the Scotts.
"I started watching HGTV because of that (getting her license). They are definitely my favorite personalities on the network," she said.
Her boyfriend, Rob Sannicandro, of Harrison, N.Y., accompanied her to the event Tuesday and said the two are among his favorite personalities on HGTV.
Robin Wexler, director of media relations and marketing at the Museum & Nature Center, said the center received a call last week about hosting the brothers and they quickly agreed.
"It was something really interesting and exciting," she said about the new show.
