FAIRFIELD, Conn. — A motor vehicle accident involving a box truck was blocking two lanes of I-95 northbound in Fairfield on a snowy Monday morning, the Department of Transportation said.

The accident was between Exits 21 and 22, and the two right lanes were reported closed, DOT said. The accident was reported Monday, Feb. 8 at 11:21 a.m.

Traffic backups were reported in the area back to at least Exit 20, and I-95 was snow covered in the area as a storm rolls through.

It was not clear how long it would take to clear the scene.

The area is under a Winter Weather Advisory until 6 p.m. Heavy snow is expected to cause hazardous driving conditions.
