FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) said Wednesday he is pleased with the Department of Treasury's announcement that it will feature Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill.
“Harriet Tubman is the right face for the $20 bill," he said. "Harriet Tubman hopefully will be followed by other distinguished women who symbolize the lifetime accomplishments, economic power and professional distinction of so many women. The diversity of our currency should reflect the diversity of our country. Women and African-Americans have made immense and enduring contributions to our nation, and they deserve this meaningful recognition.”
