Bridgeport Man Faces 5 Years After Pleading Guilty To Gun Charge

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A Bridgeport man faces a five-year prison term after pleading guilty to gun possession charge.

George Sanchez, also known as “Little G,” 22, of Bridgeport, pleaded guilty Thursday in Bridgeport federal court to one count of possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, according to a press release from Deirdre M. Daly, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut,.

A Bridgeport police officer searched Sanchez's vehicle on Nov. 28, 2015 and found a loaded .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol, a neoprene face mask and 44 bags of heroin. Part of the handgun’s serial number had been scratched off.

Sanchez has been detained since his arrest on Jan.  6. He is scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Vanessa L. Bryant on Sept. 28 in Hartford. The offense carries a maximum term of five years.
