Bridgeport Man Pleads Guilty In 2012 Double Fatal Crash Near Fairfield

WESTPORT, Conn. – A 35-year-old Bridgeport man has pleaded guilty to causing a double fatal car accident on I-95 in Westport early on New Year's Day in 2012, thehour.com reported.

Jamain Jerry Allen entered a plea of nolo contendere to two counts of vehicular manslaughter as well as one count each of second-degree assault with a motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, according to thehour.com.

Allen was drunk and under the influence of marijuana when he crashed the car, killing two of his passengers and injuring the third, police said. He had been speeding before crashing the car, sending it down an embankment near the Fairfield border, police said.

Allen, who was also injured in the crash, will serve seven to 15 years in prison under the plea agreement when he is sentenced in March, thehour.com reported.

Nolo contendere means the person charges does not admit to the charges but accepts punishment.
