BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The Bridgeport man charged with sexually assaulting a 19-year-old Sacred Heart University student had pretended he was an Uber driver, according to the Connecticut Post.

Alfonso Reid, 39, who has previous convictions for attempted murder, assault and gun possession, was arraigned Wednesday at Bridgeport Superior Court on a charge of first-degree sexual assault and ordered held on $750,000 bond, the Connecticut Post said.

Police said the victim and her friends got into Reid's car after leaving the Golden Star Café at 3915 Main St. after closing March 30, the Post said.

Reid offered to take the women to his home to do drugs, the Post reported, but they pleaded with him to take them back to the SHU campus in Fairfield. After dropping them off, he tricked the vicim to return to his car, drugged her and took her to his Scofield Avenue home, where he repeatedly sexually assaulted her, police told the Post.

On Tuesday night, Bridgeport police raided the Golden Star Cafe and issued infractions to about 85 underage Sacred Heart University students , according to Bridgeport Police Capt. Brian Fitzgerald.

The bar’s owner was cited for several liquor violations and referred to the state liquor commission, Fitzgerald said.
