FAIRFIELD, Conn. A $3,000 vintage guitar and $2,000 watch were reported stolen by Fairfield residents who were displaced from their home by a fire last month. The residents discovered the thefts when they returned home Wednesday, according to police reports.
The residence at 78 Cambridge St. was badly damaged by fire on the night of Jan. 21. Town building officials deemed the house unsafe after the blaze, and the residents had not been able to re-enter their home before Wednesday.
The Fairfielders found that the front door of the house had been kicked in. Along with the guitar and watch, assorted pieces of jewelry were reported missing.

? Two car break-ins were reported at Black Rock Turnpike restaurants late Wednesday. The owners left their cars parked in the lots of Barcelona Wine Bar and Mesa. In both cases, the thieves smashed a window and took a laptop that had been placed on the floor of the passenger side of the car.
Employees at Mesa told police they saw a car driving suspiciously in the lot before the second burglary was reported. The witness said a white female and several passengers were riding slowly through the lot in a white Chrysler PT Cruiser looking at other cars.
