City Tent At Beach Badly Damaged by Vandals

NORWALK, Conn. – The city's new tent at Calf Pasture Beach was damaged so severely by vandals Wednesday morning that it had to be taken down. The city had planned to rent out the tent, valued at $4,400, for picnics and family gatherings.

The tent was in a fenced in area next to a building. A worker at the Department of Parks and Recreation said she had been in the process of renting it out for the first time.

Mike Mocciae, director of the department, refused comment because the incident was under investigation. Because the tent was behind concrete blocks and a chainlink fence, workers were going over records to see who had been in the area recently.
