“I think we’ve come a long way in the six years that we’ve been here and I just have to say Weston is such a wonderful town and I feel so blessed to be in this position of leadership, because everything we have done has really been as a community,” Weinstein told Daily Voice.

Whether it’s renovations to Lachat Town Farm and the Weston Library to create new community gathering places, or through increased transparency from the town government, Weinstein said she is devoted to finding ways to bring Weston’s residents together.

“We think it’s critical that we try to get our community involved in the process as much as we can and as often as we can so they can play a critical role in our government and what we do here,” Weinstein said.

Weinstein has lived in Weston for 20 years and was first elected to the Board of Selectmen in 2007. She was elected to her first term as First Selectman in 2009. She announced this May that she will be seeking a fourth term as First Selectman in the fall.

She said that community collaboration will be important in addressing issues such as changing demographics and growing the Grand List. Weinstein said there has also been a lot of collaboration between the Board of Selectmen, the Board of Finance and the Board of Education in keeping the town’s costs down and being fiscally responsible.
