DOT expects the pavement preservation project to run from April through October 2016 as crews repave a 4.2-mile stretch along the north and southbound sides of I-95 from the New England Avenue overpass in Fairfield to the Beardsley Avenue overpass in Bridgeport, announced First Selectman Mike Tetreau.

Crews will also mill and fill the on- and off-ramps during the construction scheduled for weekdays during the late-evening to early-morning hours (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.).

The goal behind the project is to enhance the road’s pavement performance while using cost-effective treatments to extend the service life of the existing pavements.

Other parts of the project -- undertaken with 80 percent federal funds and 20 percent state funds -- include minor bridge repairs over Metro North and Bridgeport streets.

Those wishing to express comments, questions or concerns over the project can do so before Sept. 15 by contacting William W. Britnell, Principal Engineer of Highway Design, by phone at (860) 594-3274 or by email at William.Britnell@ct.gov. Submitters should reference State Project Number 0050-0219.
