Extensive Flooding Expected In Fairfield Tonight

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Severe flooding is expected in Fairfield tonight during the next high tide between 11 p.m. and midnight tonight. Heavy wind in the area has increased, pushing water toward the shore, said officials in a code red message from Selectman Michael Tetreau and the Emergency Management Team.

Higher winds have caused dangerous conditions across Fairfield, knocking down trees, blocking roads and causing power outages. Officials are asking all residents to stay indoors, off the roads and away from power lines.

Work crews will not be able to repair downed wires or clean up debris until wind speeds slow down, later tonight or tomorrow.
