FAIRFIELD, Conn. When an intruder entered a Fairfield couple's home Monday afternoon, they didn't call the police. Instead, they hopped in their car and gave chase as the man fled on a bicycle. Eugene Marrero, 28, of Bridgeport was arrested in Bridgeport when the couple signaled a Bridgeport Police officer, who nabbed the suspect and held him for Fairfield Police.
The two Brooklawn Avenue residents told police that Marrero walked in their unlocked back door Monday afternoon. When the Fairfielders asked him what he was doing, he fled into nearby Bridgeport. The arresting officers found a double-edged knife on Marrero.
Marrero was charged second-degree burglary, possession of a deadly weapon and possession of burglary tools. Bond was set at $10,000, and he is due in court on Nov. 20.
