FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield Public Library is joining with Access Health CT to teach residents about affordable health care.

The library is hosting appointments for residents to learn how the new Affordable Health Care act affects their families. Residents can make appointments at the library at 1080 Old Post Road. Walk-ins are accepted from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

"Wondering how the implementation of the new health care law will affect you and your family? Access Health CT is Connecticut’s official health insurance marketplace," representatives said. "A Certified In-Person Assister, trained by Access Health CT, will provide confidential one-hour appointments at the Library."

Access Health CT's mission is to increase the number of Connecticut residents who are insured, lower their costs, promote better health and eliminate health disparities, according to a release.

A Certified In-Person Assister will help individuals and families for free. No selling of insurance will take place. Appointments may be made 48 hours in advance either by calling (203)256-3160, signing up on the Library’s website or in person at the Library Information Desk at the Main Library.
