Fairfield Residents Can Now Pay Tax, Sewer Bills At People’s United Bank

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – As of Wednesday, Oct. 1, Fairfield residents are now able to pay current year property tax and sewer bills at any People’s United Bank location, including at Stop & Shop branches outside of Fairfield.

The bills, due in July, October, January and April, may also still be paid in person, by mail or online through the Tax Collector’s Office. The addition of the in-person payment options at the banks has been added for the convenience of Fairfield residents, as it allows for more convenient hours and locations to suit everyone’s needs.

In order to pay a tax or sewer bill at a People’s United Bank, consumers should bring an original bill, which has number “051” at the top of the installment portion. It cannot be a reprinted or adjusted bill, and no partial payments or payments on bills that include a back tax due will be accepted at the banks.

Those who pay in person will be given a receipt from People’s United Bank. Bank locations are:

  • Fairfield Branch, 1055 Post Road, 203-256-5733 – Hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
  • Fairfield Stop & Shop Branch, 1160 Kings Highway Cutoff, 203-255-4536; Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
  • Southport Branch, 411 Old Post Road, 203-255-4536; Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 6p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
  • Black Rock Turnpike Branch, 1940 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield, 203-333-1914; 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
  • Villa Avenue Stop & Shop Branch, 766 Villa Ave., 203-331-9039; Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
  • Southport Trust Branch, 226 Main St., Southport, 203-256-5740; Hours are 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday.
  • Stratfield Branch, 1237 Stratfield Road, 203-336-6546; Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
