Fairfield Seeks Nominees For Annual Awards

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Do you have a friend or neighbor who makes a difference in Fairfield? Have you dealt with a town employee who went above and beyond the call of duty to help you out?

If so, you can submit their names to the First Selectman’s Office to see that they are recognized for their work. The town is looking for candidates for its annual Fairfielder of the Year and Town Employee of the Year award.

The annual awards go to volunteers and town workers based on resident nominations. An independent panel will choose finalists for each category. The Board of Selectmen will then choose winners later this fall.

Robert Brennan, Jr. won last year’s civilian award posthumously. Holly Lanese of the Registrars of Voters Office and Sgt. Ed Greene from the Fairfield Police shared the 2011 Employee of the Year award. You can see a full list of past winners at the town website.

You can submit nominations to the First Selectman’s Office on the second floor of Sullivan Independence Hall, 725 Old Post Road. Applications are due by noon, Nov. 2. Submission forms are available at Sullivan Independence Hall, the Fairfield Public Library and town website.
