FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield First Selectman Michael Tetreau has asked residents to join others around the state in holding a moment of silence Friday morning for those killed last week in Newtown .
The observance is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. under the order of Gov. Dannel Malloy. The bells of Fairfield’s Old Town Hall and churches across the state will chime 26 times, one for each person killed this past Friday at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
Malloy has also written to every governor in the country, asking each to consider joining Connecticut in a silent tribute.
