FEMA Again Extends Deadline To File For Sandy Aid

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Fairfield County residents and business owners impacted by Hurricane Sandy have more time to file for assistance.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency extended the registration deadline from Jan. 28 to Feb. 12, Gov. Dannel Malloy announced.

“Extending this deadline will ensure that any resident or business affected by Storm Sandy has ample time to apply for federal aid,” Malloy said in a statement. “We will continue with the recovery process until everyone’s life is back to normal.”

More than $37 million in federal disaster aid has, to date, been approved for Connecticut residents with storm-related expenses, Malloy said. More than 12,000 residents throughout the state have registered for federal assistance.

Residents and businesses who suffered storm damage can apply for aid by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or by visiting . People with speech or hearing disabilities can call the TTY line at 1-800-462-7585.
