Flash Flood Watch Issued For Fairfield

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Fairfield County beginning late Tuesday night through Wednesday afternoon.

A low pressure system is moving eastward from the Great Lakes and will begin dumping heavy precipitation on the Fairfield County area late Tuesday and into Wednesday morning. 

Rains are expected to be heavy at times with up to 1 to 2 inches per hour possible in some areas. Widespread rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 3 inches of total rain are possible, with 4 inches possible in some areas, the National Weather Service said. 

The rain is expected to move slowly through the area on Wednesday. Showers could be heavy at times. 

Residents are advised to monitor forecasts and be prepared to take action if flood warnings are issued.
