Carol Cardillo, 53, is charged with second-degree manslaughter and risk of injury in connection with the death of Adam Gregory Vasaturo Seagull on March 22, 2016. He had been in her care for 11 days at the unlicensed daycare center run in her Edgewood Road home,

Carol Cardillo, 53, is accused of giving Benadryl to Adam before putting him down for a nap, police said.

Officers responded to her home on a report of an unresponsive infant and rushed the 4-month-old to St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, where he was pronounced deceased, police said.

Cardillo, who ran the unlicensed daycare for 11 years, initially denied giving Benadryl to the baby, according to police. She said she had given him a bottle before putting him down for a nap, police said. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that he had Benadryl in his system, which should not be given to a baby under 2.
