Knife-Wielding Suspect Robs Fairfield Motel Clerk

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A desk clerk at a Fairfield hotel was robbed at knifepoint late Saturday, police said.

The victim told police the suspect made off with several hundred dollars in cash from the Best Western on Kings Highway.

The robbery was reported at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday. The clerk told police a black man entered the hotel lobby and asked for a guest at the hotel. The name he gave did not match anyone in the hotel’s records. When told this, the man made a phone call while the clerk began counting the night’s receipts.

The man then pulled out a knife and told the clerk to step back, police said. He then jumped over the counter, took the cash and ran, police said.

The suspect was described as a dark-skinned black man between 25 and 30, about 5 feet, 5 inches tall, with a thin build, police said. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and black pants with a blue stripe, police said. Anyone with information should contact the Fairfield Police Department at 203-254-4800.
