FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Road work will close portions of Interstate 95 near the Fairfield-Bridgeport line this weekend, according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.
Traffic will be stopped in both directions for 10-minute intervals between midnight and 6 a.m. Friday, May 3, and Saturday, May 4. The stoppages will take place between exits 26 and 27A, as well as the on-ramps at Wordin Avenue, Myrtle Avenue and the Route 25/8 interchange on Friday, and near exit 25 Saturday.
The DOT warns drivers to “expect significant delays during traffic stops and consider alternate routes,” the release said.
The road closures are to allow contractors to work on a project to install new catenary wires for the Metro North New Haven Line in the area between Bridgeport and Fairfield. The work is weather-sensitive, and will take place May 10 and 11 if there is inclement weather this weekend.
