Man Arrested for Public Indecency

Fairfield police believe they have caught the man who has been exposing himself and sexually harassing women in local department stores. On Friday, they arrested Jean Leconte, 22, at his home on Colorado Avenue in Bridgeport.

Leconte's arrest stems from two incidents earlier this year. In July, a woman shopping at Kohl's on Tunxis Hill Road reported that a man who fit Leconte's description brushed up against her. When she turned around, she saw that the man had dropped his pants and had begun masturbating. In September, a woman shopping at Marshalls on the Post Road reported that a man fitting the same description had performed the same lewd acts in her presence.

Leconte was charged with one count of fourth-degree sexual assault and two counts each of public indecency, obscenity and breach of peace. He was released on a written promise to appear on Nov. 5. Fairfield police turned Leconte over to police in Trumbull, where he has an outstanding warrant for similar charges.
