Metro-North will cancel two local morning peak trains, one each on the New Haven and Harlem lines, for nine weeks beginning Monday, July 1. Other schedule adjustments will be made, too.
Track work includes drainage improvements, tie replacements, fencing repairs and general cleanup. A two-year $11 million drainage project will also begin during this time between Melrose and Woodlawn in New York.
On the New Haven Line, the 7:09 a.m. train from New Canaan will make additional stops at Port Chester and Rye, N.Y., because it will be combined with the 7:35 a.m. train that serves only Port Chester and Rye.
The 8:03 a.m. New Haven Line train from New Rochelle, N.Y., which arrives at Grand Central at 9:05 a.m., will be canceled. Commuters can take the 8:08 a.m. local out of Stamford nine minutes later.
The 8:03 a.m. Harlem Line local train out of Mount Vernon West, N.Y., which arrives at Grand Central at 8:38 a.m., will also be canceled. To make up for this, five different trains will make extra stops.
Metro-North commuters can expect eight other Harlem and New Haven trains to have schedule adjustments of up to five minutes, and three Hudson Line trains will have adjustments of one to two minutes.
In the evening, no peak trains will be canceled, but 10 Harlem and New Haven afternoon peak trains will have schedule adjustments of one to six minutes. The Hudson Line afternoon peak schedule will not be affected.
The 8:03 a.m. trains should resume their regular runs after Labor Day.
