FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Notre Dame of Fairfield’s girls basketball team is one win away from its first-ever state championship.
The Lancers defeated Haddam-Killingworth 49-43 in the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference Class M semifinal Monday night. With the win second-seeded Notre Dame will play No. 1 Cromwell in the state championship game this weekend.
This will be the Notre Dame girls’ fifth trip to the state finals in team history. The Lancers finished second in Class LL for three consecutive years in 1987-1989, and was also the runner-up in the 2007 Class S tournament.
The CIAC basketball finals will take place Friday and Saturday at Mohegan Sun Arena. Schedules for the eight games will be announced Wednesday, according to the CIAC website.
