Power Outages Reported In Fairfield As 2 Inches Of Rain Falls

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- A nor'easter pounded Fairfield County throughout Tuesday, bringing nearly 3 inches of rain to some areas, causing power outages and filling roadways with water.

No major flooding was reported even as the storm continued into Tuesday evening. 

Here are rainfall totals reported by the National Weather service at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, even as heavy rain continued to fall: 

  • Fairfield: 2. 99 inches
  • Danbury: 2.81 inches

  • Norwalk: 2.8 inches

  • Stamford: 2.62 inches

  • Bridgeport: 2.1 inches

A wind gust of 47 mph was recorded in Bridgeport, with sustained winds of 32 mph in the Park City. 

Here are the power outages reported as of 5:55 p.m. Tuesday by Connecticut Light & Power and United Illuminating: 

  • Bridgeport: 1 
  • Darien: 1
  • Easton: 20 
  • Fairfield: 2
  • Greenwich: 6 
  • New Canaan: 1
  • Norwalk: 23 
  • Redding: 3 
  • Ridgefield: 1
  • Stamford: 84 
  • Wilton: 5

The heavy rain and strong winds are expected to continue into Tuesday evening, with overnight low temperatures in the mid-30s in Fairfield County. Another half-inch of rain could fall, according to the National Weather Service. 

Wednesday will be rainy with a high near 41 degrees and winds of 14 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Another quarter of an inch of rain is possible.

Even worse, Wednesday evening could bring more rain as well as some snow showers.
