Raymond Pellis, 89, Of Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Raymond C. Pellis, of Fairfield, died Monday, Jan. 5. He was 89. 

He was the husband of Priscilla Foote Wargo Pellis.

Born and raised in Bridgeport, Pellis was a Fairfield resident for over 60 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as submarine chaser in the Pacific Theatre. He later went on to work for the Harvey Hubbell Co. for over 50 years until his retirement.

He was a longtime member of the Fairfield American Legion Post 143 and a parishioner of St. Anthony Church, and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, clamming and especially liked Polka music and dancing. 

In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his sons: Raymond Pellis of Arizona and Zachary Pellis of Fairfield; stepchildren Mark, Craig and Thomas Wargo, Mary Wargo Brown, Patricia Wargo Philbin, Stacey Wargo Khouri, and Lisa Wargo Greenleaf; and many step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Anna, and a sister, Frances.

Calling hours will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.  Friday, Jan. 9, at the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, Fairfield Center. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home and at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, South Pine Creek Road, Fairfield. Burial will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery with full military honors.
