FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Black Rock Realty plans to hold its community forum on proposed changes to its plans at the Fairfield Metro Center Tuesday night. But a handful of The Fairfield Daily Voice’s readers will need a lot of convincing.

Readers took to The Fairfield Daily Voice Facebook page to express their doubts about adding residential apartments to the area near Fairfield’s newest train station.
“One of the main reasons to build the Metro Center was to take blighted land and turn it into an attractive transportation hub for the town surrounded by commercial development that would extend the commercial tax base of the town and thus take some of the tax burden off the residential side,” reader James McCusker wrote. “More residential development will do the opposite- adding to the long term tax burden of Fairfield residents.”
Board of Finance member Robert Stone agreed in a comment of his own.
“The train station was approved because we wanted to develop a larger commercial base for Fairfield. It was never proposed as a residential area,” Stone wrote. “There is no logical reason to put apartments of all things at that location. His problem, should not be Fairfield's problem.”

Very good comments from everyone in the audience. My conclusion is this project will continue to revitalize the Commerce Drive area and the entire Metro Station development will be a big success in the long run.. for the community and investors.
