Redding Woman Joins Board At Center For Family Justice Serving Fairfield

REDDING, Conn. -- Redding resident Jessa Francis has been elected to the board of directors of The Center for Family Justice in Bridgeport.

Francis, a financial planning and analysis supervisor at Stratford-based Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., joins the 22-member board of the Bridgeport-based nonprofit.

The Center provides crisis and support services to victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in the communities of Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford and Trumbull.

“I am honored to be part of such a groundbreaking organization,” said Francis, who began her relationship with The Center as a volunteer. “Not only does The Center for Family Justice provide a vision for what the future of victim services looks like, it is also tirelessly trying to prevent abuse with community outreach, education and advocacy.

“I am also excited to work with my fellow board members and staff and contribute in any way that I can,” said Francis.

Debra A. Greenwood, president/CEO of The Center, said she is pleased to add Francis’ talent and commitment to its volunteer board, which includes business and community leaders from each of the six communities it serves.

“She brings youthful energy along with a strong corporate background and creative ideas for marketing to the table,” said Greenwood. “We’re delighted she’s agreed to make such a vital contribution as a board member.”

Within the past year, the center answered more than 950 calls on a 24-hour crisis hotline; assisted with the civil and criminal court processes for more than 2,500 survivors of domestic violence; responded to more than 500 survivors of sexual assault and their families; provided a safe home for more than 100 women and children fleeing domestic abuse; coordinated the investigations of more than 170 cases of child sexual and severe physical abuse, developing service plans for the young survivors and their families; and provided psycho-educational support to more than 1,200 survivors of domestic violence, planning for their safety and promoting self-sufficiency.
