GREENWICH, Conn. -- Michael Skakel secured two key rulings for his possible retrial in the 1975 murder of a Greenwich teenager, according to newstimes.com.
A Superior Court judge in Stamford ruled that DNA evidence from hair found at the murder scene must be preserved and that Skakel would have personal items returned to him, newstimes.com said.
Skakel and his attorneys hope the hair samples will prove the involvement of two other men in the murder, newstimes.com reported.
The Kennedy cousin may face a retrial in the 1975 murder of his neighbor Martha Moxley, 15, who was brutally beaten to death outside her home with a golf club.
Skakel was convicted in 2002, but the ruling was set aside in 2013 due to a ruling that his first lawyer was ineffective.
