FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- United Illuminating announced an eight-year plan to trim or remove trees that are proving troublesome for power lines at a recent Fairfield Board of Selectmen meeting, according to Minuteman News Center.

The utility issued the plan in an effort to reduce outages in the area by eliminating trees and limbs that knock out power lines during storms, Minuteman News Center reported.

UI would need the town's permission for any publicly owned trees while homeowners would be notified of any work done to trees on private property, Minuteman News Center said.

Haha so true Jim E. There are trees at 45 degree angles over the street in some parts and UI was fighting over the town to decide whose job it was to remove. I guess they figured it would be cheaper to remove them or maintain them than pay overtime. I seriously don't undertand how they couldn't have maintained trees getting so big that they get entangled in the power lines. Plenty are uprooting the sidewalks too, yet the town keeps planting pines and sycamores near homes. Go figure.

GOOD !!!!! Firewood ---Renewable source!!!!!! The same ones which will complain ARE The Same one's that complained about no power during the Storms !!!!! Got Generator ????
