FAIRFIELD, Conn. Outdoor concerts and interesting classes highlight the first full week of summer in Fairfield. Here are some of the events happening in and around town over the next four days. See our Events page for even more things to do.
Monday, June 25
Chris Rowlands Live: 11 a.m. Connecticuts Beardsley Zoo, 1875 Noble Ave., Bridgeport, presents entertainer Chris Rowlands, who combines music, puppetry and dancing into an educational show about animals. The performance is free with zoo admission, which is $12 for adults and $10 for children. Rowlands also will perform shows at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. every day through June 30.
Avoiding Identity Theft: 7:30 p.m. The Fairfield Public Librarys series on home finances brings in Sheryle McMillan of Money Management International to teach residents how to prevent identity theft. The free seminar takes place in the Rotary Room of the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road.
Representative Town Meeting: 8 p.m. Fairfields legislature holds its monthly meeting in the conference room on the second floor of 501 Kings Highway E. The meetings agenda is available here .
Tuesday, June 26
International Choir Festival: 7 p.m. Sacred Heart Universitys Chapel of the Holy Spirit hosts performances from three childrens choirs from three nations. The Fairfield County Childrens Choir is joined by the Adelaide Voices from Australia and the Verata e Liberi from Colombia. There will be a $5 suggested donation at the door. 5151 Park Ave.
Town Plan and Zoning Commission Meeting: 7:30 p.m. Fairfields zoning board will hold its bimonthly meeting in the cafeteria of McKinley Elementary School, 60 Thompson St. The meetings agenda is available here .
Board of Education Meeting: 7:30 p.m. Fairfields school board will hold its regular meeting in its conference room on the second floor of 501 Kings Highway E. The meetings agenda is available here .
Wednesday, June 27
Gunsmoke Concert: 7 p.m. Local country band Gunsmoke performs as part of the Fairfield Recreation Departments Summer Concert Series. The performance is free. Sherman Green, Post Road and Reef Road.
Thursday, June 28
Fireflies: Flashes of Light: 4 p.m. The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection presents a special class at the Pequot Library, 720 Pequot Ave. The class will teach children as young as 6 about fireflies and what makes then light up. The presenters recommend bringing a plastic bottle and cap to the presentation.
Mishka and Anuhea Concert: 7 p.m. The reggae duo performs at the Fairfield Theatre Companys StageOne, 70 Sanford St. Tickets are $29 at the door or $25 through the theaters website .
